Detail: Tribal Mural on Thompson Street, SoHo, New York

Here's a detail shot of a new black-and-white mural painted in a pattern that reminds of us of one of those tribal tattoos that were so popular in the late 90's The stretch of wall that this painting covers used to be a plain, nondescript space covered with a few half-assed graf-tags that kept getting painted over. The wall looks really great now, though we wished the space was devoted to something a little less abstract and to something artistically bolder and more original. Still, we can only welcome this kind of creative use of space on tony Thompson Street, now home two high-priced condo conversions, fashionable real estate, expensive restaurants, boutique hotels and luxury shops.
