American flag graffiti art on a fence / gate down on Ludlow Street, Lower East Side of New York City. A fitting image for the 4th of July / Independence Day holiday in the United States this week. This piece as been here for years. It's on the block between Hester and Canal streets, about 40 meters north from the corner where the French-Tunisian-Brazilian bar restaurant Les Enfants Terribles, where the Global Graphica massive usually get together for brunch and caipirinhas at the weekend.

Bigs Ups - Reykjavik, Iceland No. 2

More images of some awesome graffiti art and throw-ups in the parking lot across from the harbor (in the neighborhood pop-star Bjork used to keep an apartment) in the heart of Reykjavik, Iceland. The sign on the building is written in Icelandic, naturally, a Nordic language that is little changed from te original ancient language of the Vikings who populated the island. The graff is a far cry from the Viking sagas of old.

Return From Break

We're back bee-yatches!!! Global Graphica has returned from a six-month hiatus.

We took a break from the website to devote more time to our work producing several big online advertising campaigns for a major cell-phone service provider and consulting on a new Web video start-up.

Now that we've got something approximating normal working hours again, we're ready to get back to the business of adding updating Global Graphica, our personally curated collection of images documenting the ephemeral street art, graff and visual artifacts we stumble upon in wanderings around New York City and abroad. Good to be back.

The New York Times has a first-rate feature on graff in the German captial. There's an article and a good companion video worth watching called "Graffiti in Berlin" Das ist sehr gut, ja?
